The facility was designed to house up to 1,008 inmates. In 2010, the South County Jail was expanded to house 1,776 inmates. The South County Jail offers various programming to eligible inmates. Additionally, life skills, faith based, and substance abuse programs are also available for inmates to attend.
A courtroom is provided at the South County Jail for First Appearance Hearings. Visitors can watch these proceedings in the lobby of the South County Jail seven days a week.
