Finding a solution to the nation's growing gang problem is a priority for each and every law enforcement agency. Historically it has been shown that prosecution and incarceration alone cannot begin to cope with the growing gang problem.

The answer lies in prevention. We must show our children the harmful effect of gangs and point them in positive directions so that gangs lose their appeal.

If your neighborhood or community has not yet shown the typical signs of gang problems, now is the time to act. Don't wait until the problem becomes dangerous and costly.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to responding to the growing gang problem in Polk County from a multi-faceted approach. I believe it is the responsibility of all segments of the community to be informed and work together to find reasonable responses to gangs and the problems associated with them.
