The PROCAP (Proactive Community Attack on Problems) Squad is a unit whose mission is to support the patrol function through assertive policing practices. PROCAP Squads consist of a sergeant and several deputies, with squads assigned to each patrol district. Deputies selected for this assignmend are highly motivated and have demonstrated a dedication to proactive law enforcement activities.
PROCAP deputies generally drive unmarked patrol cars and are often dispatched to areas where there is a crime trend in order to help identify the problem, identify any perpetrators, and prevent further criminal activity. In addition, they work to locate wanted individuals, conduct surveillance, and provide other services directly related to crime control, crime prevention, and criminal apprehension. All of these activities are undertaken in an effort to improve the quality of life for Polk County's residents and visitors.
