 Explorer Post 900

Mission Statement
The mission of Explorer Post 900 is to develop desirable qualities of character, and teach responsible citizenship and leadership, while introducing Explorers to a career in law enforcement.

 What is an Explorer Post?

A law enforcement Explorer Post is a cadet program designed for students who are interested in any aspect of law enforcement, and allows individuals to learn about law enforcement careers. Exploring is charted by the Boy Scouts of America. The Explorer Post is also affiliated with the Florida Sheriff's Explorers Association. The program is designed to develop self-esteem, discipline, good citizenship, and leadership with the Post, and to strengthen the partnership between the Sheriff's Office and the youth of our communities.

 Explorer Programs

Explorer cadets have the opportunity to learn almost every
aspect of law enforcement. Subject topics include:

  • First Aid
  • Firearm Safety
  • Patrol Procedures
  • Vehicle Stops
  • Traffic Direction
  • Crisis Intervention

 Membership Requirements

  • Must be resident of Polk County
  • Must maintain at least a C average in school
  • Must not have a criminal record
  • Must be of good moral character
  • Must be at least 14 years of age
  • Must have completed 8th grade
  • Must have a good school record
  • Must pass an oral review board
