The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Hazardous Material Team is a team of volunteers that are full-time Fire Hazardous Material Technicians for the County Fire Services that are specially trained in special weapons and tactics.  Theses volunteers are trained to recognize potential Weapons of Mass Destruction events prior to deployment of the Emergency Response Team.  They are also trained to detect explosive and hazardous material that could be harmful to citizens and officers at an event.
