Community message from the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Polk County Waste Resource Management inviting all residents of the Unincorporated areas of Polk City to participate in the Large Scale “Clean it up to Green it up” event this Saturday, May 18th from 8 a.m. to 12-noon by placing trash by your curbside no later than 8 a.m. This program will provide disposal of items NOT generally collected with your regular garbage pick-ups; such as remodeling and household construction debris, shingles, drywall, wood, fencing, cabinets etc.  NO hazardous waste or tires will be collected at curbside, but a “Free” Tire Recycling Event is open to the public at Polk City - City Hall, 123 Broadway Blvd., SE this date 5/18 from 8-12 noon.  ONLY Polk County Residents may discard up to 10 standard vehicle sized tires at this event, so please bring your ID.  Both services the Curbside Cleanup and Tire Recycling will be provided by Republic Services.  Any additional questions, call Keep Polk County Beautiful at 863-676-7019.

An invitation from the Polk County Sheriff's Office; Keep Polk County Beautiful; and Polk County Waste Resource Management for you to participate in their “Clean It Up to Green It Up” Program in the unincorporated Davenport Community, tomorrow - Saturday March 9th.  This one day, large scale, trash pick-up will provide for disposal of items that are NOT collected on your normal trash pick-up; this pick-up will be for remodeling & household construction debris such as shingles, drywall, etc. on THIS DAY ONLY and, NO tires.  All households are asked to participate by placing these items by the curb no later than 10 am for this one-day event.  

In addition, a FREE Tire Recycling event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Old Davenport School of the Arts, located at 8 Palmetto Street.  Polk County Residents may discard of up to 10 tires at the event and MUST be the STANDARD VEHICLE SIZE ONLY. Thank you.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public’s assistance with information relating to a residential burglary in the Inwood area of Woodhill Court in Winter Haven which took place on August 7th at about 1:30 p.m. when two unknown black males between 20-25 years of age exited a small brown 4-door vehicle (possibly a Corolla) and entered a home on Woodhill Court, then later fled with various electronic property.
