Local Doctor and Optician Arrested During Undercover Vice Operation

Polk County Sheriff’s undercover Vice detectives arrested a Lakeland optician and a doctor who works at Bartow Regional Medical Center this afternoon, Tuesday, October 2, 2007, during an undercover operation at Saddle Creek Park in Lakeland.

According to their affidavits, Benjamin Wayne Riley, DOB 10/8/66, of 1246 Thomasville Circle in Lakeland, who is an optician at National Vision, and Dr. Juan O. Bravo, DOB 9/9/69, of 7270 Millbrook Oaks Drive in Lakeland, who is a wound care specialist at BRMC, both approached an undercover detective while together at Saddle Creek Park on US 92 in Lakeland and exposed themselves.

Dr. Bravo has been charged with 1 count each of Exposure of Sex Organ, Committing Lewdness, and Battery, and Riley has been charged with Exposure of Sex Organ. Both men are being booked into the Polk County Jail this evening.

Also arrested during the same operation were: George H. Greenley, DOB 5/23/40, of Rock Island, Illinois, and Kevin Piper, DOB 6/6/64, of 2333 Idlewild in Lakeland. Both of these men were charged with 1 count each Exposure of Sex Organ, and Committing Lewdness, and Piper was additionally charged with 1 count Battery. (The Battery charges stem from the suspects touching the undercover detective during the acts.)

Sheriff Grady Judd says, “These recent arrests at Saddle Creek Park only confirm our warnings to the public—sexual predators and those who commit lewd acts come from all walks of life, and all occupations. We will continue to conduct these such operations within Polk County to send these criminals a message that we will not tolerate this kind of behavior.”
