Polk County Sheriff’s Office East Region Det. Mark Taylor is seeking information on the armed robbery of a motel night clerk that occurred on Monday, Oct. 14, 1996. At approximately 9:45 p.m. two unknown suspects, both wearing white plastic hockey-type masks, entered the lobby of the Ramada Inn, located at 4825 U.S. Highway 27 North, near Interstate-Four, near Davenport. The suspects pointed handguns at a night clerk forcing him to lay on the floor. The perpetrators then tied the clerk’s hands with duct tape and emptied the cash register.

Both suspects, described as being in the late teens or early 20s, fled in a light blue compact 2-door vehicle, southbound on U.S. Highway 27. One of the suspects is described as being 6' tall, weighing about 150 pounds, and is possibly left-handed. The second suspect is described as being 5'10" tall weighing about 150 pounds. Both soft spoken gunmen had short black hair and are slender build.
