Polk County Sheriffs Office, Southwest District, detectives are seeking information on an aggravated assault and burglary of an occupied dwelling that occurred on Nov. 6, 1996, at a residence located at 1450 Merrick Road, near Lakeland. At about 10 p.m. one of four suspects knocked on the door talking with one of the victims.
A second suspect entered the residence with a sawed off shotgun ordering the Lakeland couple and their 13-year-old daughter to the floor. The couples three other daughters were in a back room at the time. The father managed to get up, run to his bedroom, obtain a shotgun and chase the suspects out of the house before anything was stolen. While this was occurring the mother managed to sneak two daughters out of the house through another door.
Descriptions of the four suspects include: (#1) W/M, 18-22 years old, 5'5", 130 pounds with a blond crew-cut hair; (#2) (Composite Available) H/M, 18-22, 5'2", brown eyes and black straight short hair; (#3) H/M, 18-22, 6' with black bushy collar-length hair; and (#4) H/M, 18-22, 5'5" with black crew-cut hair and mustache.
A reward of up to $1,000 may be awarded for
information leading to the arrest or indictment of a
suspect or suspects. Anyone with information is asked to
