Polk County Sheriff’s Office Ridge District Det. Shawn Stephenson is seeking information on a robbery that occurred during the early morning hours of Thursday, Nov. 14, 1996, at Shoney’s Restaurant, located at 5520 U.S. Highway 27 N, near Davenport.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., two suspects entered the restaurant and confronted a janitor who was cleaning the business. One of the suspects placed the janitor into a sleeper-type hold, forced him to the floor and then tied up the victim with an extension cord. The suspects pried open the restaurant’s safe, stole an undetermined amount of cash and left in an unknown direction. About two hours later the victim managed to free himself and ran next door for help. The suspects had entered the restaurant by smashing out a glass door on the Northeast corner of the building.

The suspects’ descriptions include: (#1) B/M in his 20s, 5'10' tall weighing about 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light-colored sweat shirt and dark pants; (#2) B/M in his 20s, 5'10" tall weighing 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a multi-colored jacket, dark pants and a stocking cap.
