[Found] At approximately 6 p.m. on
Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, Polk County Sheriff's Office,
Central District, deputies were dispatched to a reported
suspicious incident behind Texaco, located at State Road
60 and 80 Foot Road, near Bartow. According to witnesses,
a 1997 Ford F-150 had been parked running since about 3
p.m. behind the Texaco. The vehicle, which had been
recently purchased, was registered to James Fussell.
Fussell family members told detectives he had left Friday
morning to go to Tampa to purchase a load of wood. That
lumber had been delivered to his Alturas residence.
Fussell, 58, is described as being 6'1" tall,
weighing about 200 pounds. He has grey hair and always
wears a Bill Elliott baseball cap. Related releases of suspect
