Polk County Crime Stoppers

Detectives with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Winter Haven Police Department are seeking information on three armed robberies that occurred during the evening hours of Tuesday, January 6, 1998.

The three armed robberies occurred between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The stores included: Sun Rise Store, located at 3035 Thornhill Road, near Winter Haven; Speedway Store, located at 3005 State Road 540 W, near Winter Haven; and Texaco, located at 1602 US Highway 27, in Winter Haven.

In all three incidents the suspect entered the stores, made a small purchase, produced a small-caliber handgun, grabbed the trays from the cash registers and fled with an undetermined amount of money in a red newer-model Ford.

The black male suspect is described as being 5'4" to 5'5" tall with a thin build. He was wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and jewelry.

 A reward of up to $1,000 may be awarded for information leading to the arrest or indictment of a suspect or suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact Polk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS. Anonymity is Guaranteed!
