|At approximately 9:20 p.m. on July 21, 1998,
two black male suspects, wearing ski masks and armed with handguns, entered the Publix
Supermarket, located at 1090 Spirit Lake Road, near Winter Haven.
At gunpoint they walked the manager to the office and ordered a store clerk to open the store safe. The suspects then placed a large sum of money in a pillow case and fled. A dark blue vehicle was seen in the area. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
Suspect #1 is described as being 6' tall, weighing 170 pounds with a slender build. Suspect #2 is described as being 5'8" tall, weighing 190 pounds with a medium build. Both men were described as being in their mid-20s.
A reward of up to $1,000 may be awarded for information leading to the arrest or indictment of a suspect or suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact Polk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS. Anonymity is Guaranteed!
