Polk County Sheriff's Office, Robbery Unit, detectives are seeking information on a suspect believed to have been involved in five armed robberies of stores in the south Lakeland area.

In all cases the suspect entered the store, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. After robbing the clerk of money from the cash register the suspect fled on foot. No shots have been fired and none of the store clerks have been injured.

He is described as being a white male, in his 20s or 30s, 5'8" tall, weighing about 165 pounds. He wears dark-colored long-sleeve T-shirt and a light-colored T-shirt with eye-holes cut out over his face.

The South Lakeland robberies, believed to be related, include:

Sept. 4, 1998 12:45 a.m. Food Lion 7050 State Road 37, Lakeland
Sept. 6, 1998 4:10 a.m. Farm Store Drane Field Road at Pipkin Road, Lakeland
Sept. 13, 1998 3:03 a.m. Circle K County Line Road at Coronet Road, Lakeland
Sept. 17, 1998 2:56 a.m. Speedway County Road 540A at County Road 37B, Lakeland
Sept. 21, 1998 12:51 a.m. Farm Store Drane Field Road and Pipkin Road, Lakeland
