Polk County Sheriff's Office detectives are seeking information on an animal cruelty case that left more than thirty birds mutilated.

During the last six weeks, chickens and turkeys belonging to a Polk City man have been either skinned alive or mutilated. The birds, sometimes still alive, and bird carcasses have been left at the scene.

Due to the nature of the birds wounds and their cause of death, detectives believe perpetrators committed the malicious and cruel acts on the animals rather than another animal.

Polk County Sheriff's Office Detective Rob Oakman is in charge of the investigation.

A reward of up to $1,000 may be awarded for information leading to the arrest or indictment of a suspect or suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact Polk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS. Anonymity is Guaranteed!
