Man Sought on Murder Charge

Polk County Sheriff's Office Homicide Detectives are searching for 36-year-old Juan Ortiz on a first degree murder charge for the stabbing death of his wife, 24-year-old Kimberly Ortiz. The stabbing occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 1999, at the couple's residence, located at 3835 State Road 60 West Lot #9 in the Willow Oak #2 Mobile Home Park. Investigation revealed that Juan Ortiz stabbed his wife during a domestic dispute at the couple's home. Neighbors called 911, and Kimberly Ortiz was rushed to the hospital, where she died from her injuries. Juan Ortiz fled from the scene in a two-door, dark blue 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale. The front grill area is painted tan/gold. Detectives are requesting assistance in locating Ortiz. He is described as an Hispanic Male, 5'11, medium build with dark hair.
