Reward Increases to $1,500
The reward for information leading to the arrest of 36-year-old murder suspect Juan Ortiz has been increased to $1,500. Ortiz is wanted on a first degree murder charge for the stabbing death of his wife, 24-year-old Kimberly Ortiz. A group of concerned citizens has added an additional $500 to the original $1,000 reward in hopes of encouraging anyone with information on the possible location of Ortiz to call the anonymous Crime Stoppers Line at 1-800-226-TIPS. Polk County Sheriff's Office Homicide Detectives are investigating the stabbing which occurred on July 26, 1999, at the couple's residence, located at Lot #9 in the Willow Oak #2 Mobile Home Park. Investigation revealed that Juan Ortiz stabbed his wife during a domestic dispute at the couple's home. Juan Ortiz fled from the scene in a two-door, dark blue 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale. The front grill area is painted tan/gold. Detectives are requesting assistance in locating Ortiz. He is described as an Hispanic Male, 5'11, medium build with dark hair. Anyone with information who wishes to remain anonymous and be eligible for a $1,500 reward is asked to call Polk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS.
