Murder Suspects Sought

Lakeland Police Department homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the 1998 murder of a Lakeland man, and are seeking any information that may help solve the shooting death of 48-year-old Carter Lee Evans. The victim was shot the evening of November 12, 1998. Evans was sitting on a bucket outside a residence located at 512 West Magnolia Street in Lakeland, when he was approached by two unknown black males who said they had a gun. Evans was shot while trying to flee from the suspects. Detectives encourage anyone with information who wants to be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward to contact Polk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS.
