Man Sought for Questioning

Polk County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit deputies are continuing to investigate a fatal hit and run crash that killed a pedestrian in the early morning hours of February 13, 2000, in Wahneta. As part of the ongoing investigation, deputies are searching for Antonio Asencio of Wahneta for questioning. Asencio is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 24 years old, 5'7, with a medium build. He reportedly has been seen in the Sugar Creek Road area of Wahneta. Detectives would like to interview Asencio, and are seeking any information that might lead to his location. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:05 a.m. on 2/13/2000 in the area of 1st Street West in Wahneta. Victim Pedro Chavala was hit and killed by a car while walking. The suspect vehicle, described as a white 1989 Mustang, was left at the scene. The driver fled. Charges have not been filed in the case.
