Search Suspended for Pilot

The search for Hubert Helligar, 66, of Kissimmee, was suspended today (November 9, 2000) by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center, in consultation with the Florida Wing, Civil Air Patrol. Helligar has been missing since he took off from the Winter Haven Airport on Oct. 27, 2000. Helligar,, took off around 1 p.m. from the Winter Haven Airport in a single engine Cessna 150. Helligar has not been seen or heard from since he took off. The plane Helligar was flying is white with red and blue stripes. 

An exhaustive search has been conducted in and around Polk County with many leads followed. The Polk County Sheriff's will be following up any new leads and encourage anyone with new information to call Crime Stoppers. (NOTE: THIS IS ONLY FOR NEW INFORMATION AND NOT FOR INFORMATION PREVIOUSLY REPORTED). 

Anyone who may have noticed something suspicious, or anyone with new information about the missing pilot or plane is asked to contact Polk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS.
