Polk County Sheriff's Office Robbery Detectives are seeking to identify a suspect responsible for the May 17, 2001 robbery of the First Union Bank located at 6108 Highway 98 North in Lakeland. At approximately 11:30 this morning, a Hispanic male suspect entered the bank, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from a bank employee. The suspect left the bank with an undetermined amount of money and was last seen heading west on Daughtry Road in a dark blue, 1992 or 1993 Mercury Sable with tinted windows and ground effects. No one was injured during the robbery. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with black shoulder length curly hair and a beard, 5'10, 185 pounds last seen wearing sunglasses, a dark baseball cap, dark pants, and a light colored shirt.
