Polk County Sheriff's Office Robbery Detectives are seeking to identify a
suspect responsible for a robbery which occurred on Saturday, July 7, 2001. The
robbery occurred at the Amoco store located at 1360 U.S. Highway 92 West in
Auburndale. At approximately 8:45 p.m., an unknown black male entered the
store and told the clerk he wanted to purchase a few items which were located
behind the counter. As the clerk was completing the transaction, the
suspect displayed a chrome colored handgun and demanded money from the register.
The suspect fled the store heading north on Berkley Road with an undisclosed
amount of cash. He is described as approximately 6'1 to 6'2, 250-270
pounds with gold teeth. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with blue
horizontal stripes. The suspect might have left the scene in a 1992-1995 maroon
Chevy Camaro.
