Polk County Sheriff's Office Detectives are investigating the theft of an experimental airplane valued at $225,000. The plane  - a 1999 Experimental Horowitz Velocity XLRG - was stolen from a hangar at the South Lakeland Airport (located at 7500 Coronet Road) some time between the hours of 6 p.m. last night (Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002) and 10 a.m. this morning. The tail number is N457M, and the plane is a cream color with a brown stripe on the lower half. The plane's propeller is located on the back of the plane. The plane was being leased to Harold Pasley of 4511 Lavill Lane in Tampa. Detectives are seeking assistance in solving the case.
