Polk County Sheriff's Office Agricultural
Detectives are investigating the theft of a power unit from an orange grove
in the Fort Meade area. The power unit - described as a Detroit Series 40
with an estimated value of $5,500 - was stolen from a citrus grove located
on Asa Lewis Road in Fort Meade sometime between the dates of Dec. 24-26,
2002. The unit, which was being used to power an irrigation well, is owned
by Lewis and Durrance Inc. of Fort Meade. Detectives are requesting
assistance in locating possible suspects. Agricultural Deputy Lee Barberee
