Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies are seeking information concerning the whereabouts of domestic battery suspect William L. Hendricks, DOB 12/5/71, who escaped from custody on Friday, January 10, 2003.

A deputy sheriff responded to a call for service in Winter Haven around 11:00 a.m., where he determined Hendricks had committed a misdemeanor domestic battery.  The deputy went to Hendricks' residence at 803 NW 28th Street in Winter Haven, and handcuffed Hendricks, placing him under arrest.  The deputy then contacted Animal Control to respond to the scene in order to place Hendricks' pets into custody, as he would be unable to care for them.  At that time, the deputy saw Hendricks, who had escaped from the patrol vehicle, still handcuffed, running eastbound in Ave I.  He is currently at large and will be charged with Felony Fleeing to Elude in addition to the misdemeanor battery.

William Hendricks, seen in photo here, is described as a white male, 5'11", 160 lbs., with long brown hair and hazel eyes.
