Polk County Crime Stoppers
Polk County Sheriff’s Office Agricultural Crimes deputies are seeking the public’s help in finding at least one operator of a 4-wheeler responsible for damaging several thousands of dollars' worth of citrus trees.

In two separate incidents, between midnight and 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, January 26, 2003, at least one person and possibly more, believed to be driving a 4-wheeler, damaged around 200 newly-planted orange trees on two different properties.  One of the locations is  an orange grove on the south side of Summers Road, east of Lake Hendry Road in Bartow, where 125 small trees were damaged when they were driven over and mauled by a 4-wheeler. The vehicle appeared to have entered via Summers Road and left the same way.  The other location is an orange grove on the east side of 80 Foot Road, between Mud Lake Road and Hollingsworth Road, and around 70 trees there were damaged in the same manner.  The vehicle appeared to have entered via 80 Foot Road and left the same way.

The suspect(s) committing these crimes faces charges of Criminal Mischief and Trespassing on Cultivated Land.
