Polk County Sheriff's
Office robbery detectives are seeking information about an armed robbery in
which an Auburndale man was shot in the leg while at a car wash last week.
The robbery/shooting occurred on Dec. 22, 2003, at a car wash located at
3220 Recker Highway in Winter Haven. The suspect approached the victim while
he was cleaning his vehicle, pointed a gun at him and demanded his money.
The victim ran away and was shot in the leg area. The suspect then fled in
the victim's vehicle, a light blue 1993 Lincoln, which was later recovered
in the Winter Haven area. The suspect is described as a black male, 5'9 to
5'11, with a medium build. Detectives are seeking any information about the
robbery and shooting. Anyone who has information about this robbery or
possible suspect and would like to remain anonymous and be eligible for a
