Information Sought: Bank Robbery Suspects

Polk County Crime Stoppers
Polk County Sheriff's Office Robbery detectives are seeking information about a bank robbery that occurred today, December 31, 2003, at 8:00 a.m. at the American Bank and Trust, 1060 North Scenic Hwy in Babson Park. Two Hispanic male suspects smashed the front window to gain entry, as the bank was not yet open. They then forced the two employees who were inside into a closet and robbed the bank of an undisclosed amount of cash. They also stole one of the employees' vehicles, a dark red 1999 Mercury Cougar, with Florida tag number IM6 61R.

The suspects are described as:

  • One Hispanic male, 5'10", 165-170 lbs., in his late 20's to early 30's, wearing sunglasses, a ball cap, a jacket with a silver horizontal stripe on it, and armed with a handgun.
  • One Hispanic male, 5'9", 140-150 lbs., in his mid to late 20's, wearing sunglasses, a ball cap, a jacket, and a faded red bandanna over his face.
