Polk County Sheriff's Office Robbery detectives are seeking information about an armed robbery that occurred at the Burger King restaurant located at 5540 US Hwy 27 North in Davenport.

At 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2004, after the night manager closed the business and was walking to his vehicle, he was approached by a masked suspect armed with a handgun. The suspect ordered the manager back inside the store, where another employee was still cleaning up. The suspect demanded that the manager open the safe, and battered the other employee when told the safe had a time delay mechanism. Once the safe was open, the  suspect removed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled in an unknown direction.

The victim described the suspect as being a black male, wearing a black ski mask with two eyeholes, a brown zippered jacket, and walking with a limp on his right side.  Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Detective Travis Avery at 1-800-226-0344 or (863) 534-6379.
