Information Sought:  ATTEMPTED MURDER CAPTURED
From the

Polk County Crime Stoppers
Polk County Sheriff's Office detectives are seeking information about an attempted murder that occurred in the Lakeland area.

On Saturday, May 15, 2004, around 2:30 a.m., the resident at 1234 Reynolds Road, Lot 67, noticed a white male sitting in a Jeep Cherokee in the vacant lot next door. She asked him several times to leave the area, threatening to call police during her last request. At that point, the suspect grabbed the female victim, dragged her into the back seat of the vehicle, stabbed her several times and slit her throat. He then dumped her onto the ground and drove away, apparently leaving her for dead.

The suspect, seen in a composite sketch here is described as a white male in his 30's, 5'8" to 5'10" tall, 150 lbs., thin to medium build, with short dark brown hair and a clean shaven face. He spoke with a light Southern accent. The vehicle is an older model dark green Jeep Cherokee, with dark tinted windows. It should have a significant amount of blood in the back seat area.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Detective Mark Smith at 1-800-226-0344 or (863) 499-2400.
