Polk County Crime Stoppers
Polk County Sheriff's Office Robbery detectives are seeking information about a bank robbery that occurred on June 10, 2004, at 8:10 a.m. at the American Bank and Trust, 70 Deland Avenue in Indian Lake Estates, Lake Wales.

An unknown Hispanic male suspect attempted to shoot through the locked bank door, which is made of shatter-proof glass. The door did not shatter but the bullet passed through, narrowly missing an employee inside. The suspect then fled in a white Ford F-150 pickup truck. The vehicle was recovered a short time later by deputies nearby on SR 630. The vehicle was stolen the previous day in Highlands County.

The suspect is described as: Hispanic male, 5'10", 180-190 lbs., husky build, with shoulder-length black hair, wearing a red button-up shirt, a black denim jacket and black denim jeans, a dark-colored ballcap, and dark sunglasses.

This case may be related to 2 previous bank robberies: February 9, 2004, at 7:55 a.m. at the same American Bank and Trust; and December 31, 2003, at 8:00 a.m. at the American Bank and Trust, 1060 North Scenic Hwy in Babson Park.
