Polk County Sheriff's Office detectives are seeking to identify a woman who was found severely beaten and abandoned in a pasture area off of Peoples Road (off 630) near Fort Meade this morning (Monday, Oct. 11, 2004).

The woman may possibly go by the name Tonia Simpson (name has not been confirmed and may not be accurate), and is described as a white female, 5'5, 110 pounds, with dark, shoulder length curly hair. She also has a tattoo of a sun on her lower stomach area. She probably is 25 to 30 years old. The injured woman was found this morning around 8:30 a.m. by construction company workers. She was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where she is in serious condition. Detectives are seeking to positively identify the victim, and are seeking any information about the crime.
