Polk County Sheriff's Office Robbery detectives are seeking information about a suspect wanted for several bank robberies in and around Polk County.

At 3:07 p.m. today, January 24, 2005, the suspect entered the Mid-Florida Credit Union at 105 East Van Fleet Drive in Bartow, handed the teller a note demanding cash, and walked out of the door headed eastbound. It is not known what type of vehicle the suspect used.

The suspect is Wesley Caruthers, DOB 2/25/65, white male in his late 30's, 5'8", 185 lbs., with brown hair and green or hazel eyes. The suspect can be seen in 2 photos from 2 different bank robberies' surveillance videos: today's robbery, and the Mulberry Suntrust bank robbery that occurred on January 20, 2005.

The suspect is also wanted in the following robberies:
January 4, 2005: Colonial Bank, 2818 James Redman Pkwy, Plant City
January 7, 2005: BB&T Bank, 1115 N. John Young Pkwy, Kissimmee
January 12, 2005: Washington Mutual, 500 E. Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs
January 20, 2005: Suntrust Bank, 400 N. Church Ave., Mulberry
