Polk County Sheriff’s deputies are seeking the public’s help in a Homicide Investigation.

At approximately 1:17 pm Friday, January 9, 2009, Polk County Sheriff’s deputies received a call in reference to a body floating in a water-filled phosphate pit off of Pebbledale Road in southeast Mulberry.  A helicopter, employed by TECO to check power lines in the area, noticed the body floating in the water and notified the PCSO.

Detectives have identified the victim as that of 28-year-old Pedro Hilario Arenas, 102 Wahrhausen Road Wahneta.  Detectives say Arenas’ family reported him missing on Tuesday, January 6, 2009.  He was last seen alive January 3, 2009.

Arenas is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’7” tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds.  He had black hair and brown eyes.  He was wearing a dark colored t-shirt and blue jeans.  (The attached photo is from 2001.)
