Polk County Sheriff's Robbery detectives are seeking information about an armed carjacking and kidnapping that occurred in Winter Haven on Friday, April 10, 2009.
The incident began around 6:00 p.m. at the BP gas station located at 2600 Havendale Blvd. in Winter Haven. The victim was pumping gas into his vehicle when an unknown white male who was parked next to him at the pumps, driving a late 90's model Mercury Sable, began talking to him and telling him that he had a nice car. When the victim got into his vehicle to leave, the white male retrieved a black handgun from his car, walked over to the victim's car, and forced him at gunpoint to move into the passenger seat.
The suspect then drove the victim's car to an orange grove located between Cone Road and CR 559 in Auburndale and forced the victim out of the car. He made the victim take off his clothes and leave them in the car, and then he drove off. The victim's car was later recovered by the Winter Haven Police Department, abandoned in a wooded area behind the Spring Lake Shopping Center.
The armed suspect involved in this crime can be seen on video surveillance along with 2 persons of interest who were with him inside the BP convenience store prior to the carjacking. They are all three wanted by Polk County Sheriff's detectives for questioning.
