Polk County Sheriff’s Robbery detectives are seeking information about a robbery that occurred at the Walgreens located at 6730 US Hwy 98 North in Lakeland on Friday, April 24, 2009.
Around 5:00 p.m., an unknown white male suspect entered the store and placed a can of potato chips on the counter. After handing the clerk money for the chips, the suspect leaned over the counter and demanded the money from the open cash register, implying that he had a gun and threatening her with it. When the clerk did not immediately comply with his demands, the suspect leaned over and grabbed the cash from the register, and then fled the scene in a 2000 tan Chrysler Sebring, with FL tag 871 KZK, which was reported stolen out of Marion County earlier that day.
This suspect is also believed to be responsible for a similar robbery at a Citgo gas station in Citrus County around 2:45 p.m. the same day.
Still photos of the suspect taken from video surveillance can be seen here. He is described as a white male in his 40’s, approximately 5’8” to 6’ tall, 180-190 lbs., with brown hair and a thick mustache, wearing a yellow T-shirt, blue jeans, and dark colored shoes, wearing a ballcap backwards on his head.
If anyone has information about this incident they are urged to contact Detective Gus Aguirre at 863.534.6379 or 1.800.226.0344.
