Polk County Sheriff’s deputies are seeking the public’s help in an Armed Robbery investigation.
At approximately 9:20 pm, on Thursday, May 21, 2009, two suspects attempted an Armed Robbery at the Food 4 US Store located at 2600 26th St. in Winter Haven.
Using a shirt to mask his face, the first suspect entered the store armed with a black handgun. He pointed the firearm at a customer who was at the counter, and then at the clerk who was behind the counter.
When the suspect demanded money from the clerk, the clerk grabbed the firearm and took it from the suspect. The customer grabbed the suspect from behind and held his arms while the clerk stripped the mask, hat and shirt from the suspect.
The second suspect, who had been standing outside the store, opened the front door to the store which hit the customer’s arm causing him to lose his grip on the first suspect. Both suspects then ran from the store traveling south on 26th Street.
The suspect with the gun is described as being a white male, approximately 5’9’ tall and weighing approximately 170 pounds. He wore blue jeans and fled the scene without his shirt. There was a large black tattoo on his back. He has brown hair and a beard. His beard is unique and was shaved into a curved design that ran from his sideburns down his face.
The second suspect is described as being a white male with brown hair, possibly in his early 20s, approximately 5’10’ tall and weighing approximately 170-190 pounds. He wore blue jean shorts, a green t-shirt and also had a beard, though no design.
