Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in an Attempted Abduction.

At approximately 1:30 pm, Monday, June 22, 2009, a female was selling melons from her truck which was parked alongside Highway 27 South in Frostproof, approximately one mile north of Highland’s County.

She was approached by a young male who spoke Spanish to her telling her to come with him.  The suspect grabbed the victim and attempted to force her into his vehicle.  The victim resisted and the suspect fled the area.

The suspect, believed to be Puerto Rican, is described as being between 20-30 years of age; he had short light brown hair, and was approximately 5’3” tall, with a thin build.  He was wearing baggy tan pants, similar to Dickeys, a gray t-shirt that had, what may have been, a logo in green and he wore a baseball cap.

He was driving an older model four-door mid-size car, faded white in color.  The rearview mirror had a Puerto Rican Flag hanging on it.  A partial Florida tag number of C16 was observed.

If you have any information on the identity of this suspect, please contact Detective Mick Haygood at 863.534.6291, or 863.534.6200.
