Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating 24-year-old Shatoya Russell.
Russell is the registered owner of a 4-door Dodge Neon, silver or gray in color, bearing Florida Tag 135 KQU. Russell’s vehicle and tag match the description of a vehicle (and tag number) that was seen at the Family Dollar Store, 1770 Highway 92, E. Lakeland, during a Retail Theft - Aggravated Battery that occurred on Saturday, November 15, 2008.
At approximately 11:00 am, that morning, a black female entered the store and grabbed approximately 15 baby outfits and ran out of the store. The store manager followed the suspect out and into the parking lot where the suspect entered the rear driver’s side seat of a silver Dodge four-door vehicle.
The store manager positioned herself between the open door and the vehicle and told the suspect to give her the outfits. The suspect then shouted to the driver of the vehicle to “GO, GO, GO!”
The driver put the vehicle in reverse and began to back up trapping the victim between the door and the vehicle. The victim, hanging onto the door, was drug approximately 25 feet. The victim was able to free herself when the driver stopped to place the vehicle in drive. The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling west on Highway 92.
