INFORMATION SOUGHT IN KANGAROO EXPRESS ROBBERY  Captured

Polk County Sheriff's Robbery detectives are seeking information about a robbery that occurred on February 2, 2009, at the Kangaroo Express convenience store located at 14581 US Hwy 27 South in Lake Wales.

At 4:15 a.m. that morning, the suspect, described as a black male, approximately 6' tall and 175 lbs., entered the store and walked back outside two times. He entered a third time and placed a bag of potato chips on the counter. As the clerk rang up the chips, he reached across the counter, grabbed her arm, and demanded money. The suspect kept his other hand in his pants pocket and implied that he had a weapon. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect ran out of the front doors.

A witness who was coming into the store at the time the suspect left described seeing the suspect get into an older model 4-door car, either gray, blue, or silver in color. The witness obtained a partial tag number that may contain the characters G69I14.

Video surveillance photos of the suspect can be seen here. He was wearing a black sweater with a design on it, dark-colored jeans, a black baseball cap, and sunglasses. If anyone has information about this incident they are urged to contact Detective Consuelo Gallegos-Bias at 863.534.6379 or 1.800.226.0344.
