Polk County Sheriff's Robbery detectives are seeking information about an armed robbery that occurred on Thursday, April 8, 2010.
Around 11:45 p.m. that evening, the victim was helping take out the trash behind the XYZ Liquor Store located at 2190 US Hwy 92 East in Lakeland when he was approached by three unknown black male suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun. While one suspect held him at gunpoint, the other two suspects beat the victim about the head, taking his wallet out of his pants pocket. The suspects then fled on foot.
The armed suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’ tall, with a thin build, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. An independent witness later saw an unknown model GMC car driving eastbound on US Hwy 92 just after the robbery, which may be the suspect vehicle.
