Polk County Sheriff's Robbery detectives are seeking information about a robbery and a shooting that occurred at Prima's convenience store located at 6980 SR 60 West in Mulberry.
Around 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2010, two unknown black male suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts, driving a 4-door maroon car, possibly a Toyota Camry, drove up to the store. Both of the suspects got out of the driver's side of the car - one of the suspects was driving, and the other suspect got out of the rear passenger seat on the driver's side. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. When the suspects entered the store, the two female clerks ran into a back room and shut the door. The armed suspect fired several rounds into closed door, striking both victims. The suspects then dragged the victims out of the room and took an undisclosed amount of money from a locked box. The suspects then fled the scene heading westbound on SR 60 into Hillsborough County.
During the robbery, the suspect vehicle was parked alongside the store, parallel to SR 60, with both doors on the driver's side open. The suspects can be seen here in video surveillance photos.
