Polk County Sheriff's Robbery detectives are seeking information about an armed robbery that occurred at the Hess Food Store located at 4785 SR 60 West in Mulberry.

Around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, an unknown black male suspect wearing a white T-shirt and gray shorts entered the store. The suspect had his face covered and was armed with an unknown type of firearm. The suspect demanded cash from the clerk, but the clerk refused to comply with his demands. After a brief struggle during which the clerk was slightly injured, the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene on foot heading westbound on SR 60.

The suspect, who can be seen here in a video surveillance photo, is described as a black male, approximately 20-26 years of age, 5’10” to 6’ tall, with a skinny build.
