Polk County Sheriff's Traffic Homicide deputies are seeking information about a vehicle of interest which was last seen leaving the scene of a fatal traffic crash near Bartow, on April 19, 2010.

At approximately 6:00 pm, on Monday, April 19th, near the Bartow Airport, witnesses say that a blue Chevrolet Blazer SUV was traveling South on US Highway 17 near 91 Mine Road and was observed trying to pass another vehicle.

The second vehicle appeared to swerve towards the Blazer causing the driver of the Blazer to take evasive action. This evasive action caused the Blazer to lose control resulting in the fatal crash.

The second vehicle fled the scene but was observed traveling into the city limits of Bartow following the crash. The second vehicle has been described as an older model Toyota or Chevrolet pick-up. The vehicle is reported as having faded Maroon paint, dark tinted windows, and a long truck bed.

The driver has been described as a white male, late 20’s to mid 30's, with brown hair and dark rimed eyeglasses. It is possible that the driver has tattoos on at least one of his arms. The driver of the vehicle is wanted for questioning in this incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Deputy Kurt Caratsole at 863.297.1100, or 863.534.6200.
