Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in a Grand Theft investigation.

On March 15, 2012, a grove owner planted reset (replacement) citrus trees in the grove located at the southeast corner of Hughes Road and Alt. 27 in Lake Hamilton. On Monday, April 9, 2012, the same grove owner found that another 92 trees, valued at $1,500, had been removed from the same grove.

In a possibly related incident, on Sunday, August 12, 2012, a grove owner found that 48 trees, valued at $480, had been removed from his grove located near Snell Creek and Bird Roads in Davenport.

So far PCSO has worked six incidents in the past 10 months. In addition to the three mentioned here, two previous incidents were reported in 2011 and one incident in January 2012.  Those incidents occurred in the Haines City area of the county.

Approximately 232 trees with an estimated value $3,200 have been taken from four different grove owners.
