CHECK THEFT SUSPECT SOUGHT  Sought

Polk County Sheriff's detectives are seeking the public's help in identifying a check theft suspect.

On Tuesday, January 8, 2013, the suspect went into the Wells Fargo Bank in Auburndale and attempted to cash a two-party check in the amount of $1,200.  When the bank teller questioned the validity of the check, the suspect told her he left something in his car and needed to go get it.  He left and never returned.

The check was later confirmed stolen from a victim's mailbox on Elm Street in Winter Haven.

The suspect can be seen here in video surveillance photos.

If anyone has information about this incident they are urged to contact Detective Joe Makal at 863.297.1108.
