INFORMATION SOUGHT IN HIT AND RUN  Sought

Polk County Sheriff's deputies are seeking the public's help identifying a man who hit an elderly victim with his truck and then left the scene.

Around 1:55 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013, the elderly victim was walking in the parking lot of the Dollar General store located at 109 Charleston Avenue South in Fort Meade when a truck backing out of a parking space hit the victim, causing him to fall onto the ground.  The driver of the truck got out and asked the victim if he needed to go to the hospital.  The victim declined.  Passers-by helped the victim inside the store and to a seat.  Meanwhile, the driver of the truck left the scene.

The truck is described as an older model brown Chevy S-10.  The driver of the truck can be seen here inside the store just prior to the hit-and-run.

If you have any information about this incident or can identify the driver of the truck, you are urged to contact Deputy Sheriff Jessie Durrance at 863.285.1100.
