Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in an Occupied Burglary investigation in the Christina area of Lakeland.

At approximately 1:20 pm, on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, a female victim arrived at her residence on Peninsular Drive, Lakeland, and heard suspicious sounds in the upstairs bedroom.  Thinking it was a family member, she called out and the male subject casually walked out of the room, down the stairs, and out the door stating, “I am police.”

A subject matching the same description was seen further down Peninsular Drive minutes prior.  Here, he knocked on the door and asked for a person by name.  The resident checked her directory, told him no one by that name lived in the neighborhood, at which time he walked away.  A vehicle was not observed either time.

The suspect is described as between 45 and 60 years old, dark complexion, possibly Hispanic, short, approximately 5'03, unshaven, with salt and pepper hair and beard.  He was wearing all a black ball cap, possibly with an unknown logo, black long sleeves and long pants, with a yellow reflective safety vest.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Angie Macke at 863-499-2400, or 863-298-6200.
