INFORMATION SOUGHT IN FATAL HIT-AND-RUN  Sought 

Polk County Sheriff's Traffic deputies are seeking the public's help in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Lakeland during which a bicyclist was killed.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014, 32-year-old Eric Wayne Pope of Lakeland was riding his bicycle north on the east edge of Reynolds Road near Lisa Lane when he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle.  Pope was carried on the vehicle or thrown approximately 100 feet, and then landed in a ditch.  He was declared deceased on-scene.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing the crash.  The suspect vehicle is described as a light-colored, possibly silver or white, Dodge pickup truck.

The victim was properly operating his bicycle, which had lights on it, and he was wearing a reflective vest.
