Polk County Sheriff’s Office Robbery detectives are asking for the public’s help in a personal armed robbery investigation.

On Thursday, April 18, 2013, PCSO deputies responded to the area of 3rd St. NE and Ave. Y NE in Winter Haven, in reference to an armed personal robbery.  The victim was outside smoking when he was confronted by an unknown black male suspect.  The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s money.  The victim refused and the subject struck him.  Several other unknown black males then began to batter the victim.  During the physical altercation, the victim’s wallet was removed from his pocket.  The suspects then fled the area.

Some of the suspects, to include the armed suspect, were last seen fleeing the area in a white, newer model Sports Utility Vehicle.  It was last seen traveling north on 3rd St. NE towards Lucerne Park Rd.

The only suspect that could be described was a black male, 19-21 years of age, approximately 5’8” with a medium build (165-170 lbs), short hair and wearing a gray sweater and black or blue jeans.  This suspect was armed with a black semi-automatic 9mm handgun.
